· Gating: Use hot runners for balanced filling and less waste.
· Cooling: Place water lines close and uniform to the cavity; cool hot spots (corners/bottom) aggressively.
· Venting: Don't just rely on parting lines. Add vents in inserts and ejector pins.
· Ejection: Use a mix of sleeves and pins to spread out force and prevent breakage.
· Steel: Invest in quality steel (H13/S136) and add nitriding for hardness.
· Rigidity: Use thick plates and supports to stop mold deflection and flash.
Bottom Line:
Cheap molds cost more long-term due to downtime and scrap. A good mold optimizes all systems together for speed and reliability.
