Srpski језик When customers inquire about mold prices, they often wonder why quotes from different manufacturers vary so much. Many misunderstand the pricing of injection molds, as the cost depends on multiple factors, starting with the mold's complexity.
Prices differ significantly between simple, medium, and highly complex molds.
1. Simple Mold Pricing
Simple molds are usually single-cavity molds without sliders, lifters, or other complex mechanisms. The core and cavity have basic structures (flat or simple curves),
and the gating system uses side gates or direct gates (no hot runner). Cooling relies on straight water channels, not conformal cooling.
Processing is easier, mainly using standard lathes, milling machines, and grinders—no high-precision CNC or EDM required. Assembly is straightforward.
These molds suit simple products with no undercuts, deep cavities, thin ribs, or strict appearance/size requirements.
2. Medium-Complexity Mold Pricing
These may have multiple cavities (2–16) or a single cavity for larger or moderately complex products. They may include 1–2 simple mechanisms (small sliders/lifters) for shallow undercuts or basic features.
Processing requires CNC milling and some EDM but no ultra-precise grinding. Assembly needs moderate accuracy, with a lead time of 2–5 weeks from design to first trial.
3. High-Complexity Mold Pricing
Highly complex molds often have multiple cavities and advanced mechanisms (multi-directional sliders, lifter groups, hydraulic/pneumatic cores) for deep undercuts or intricate geometries.
The gating system uses hot runners for balanced filling. Cooling systems are precise (conformal/3D channels) for even cooling. Ejection may be complex, with automation interfaces.
These molds suit products with demanding features (deep cavities, multi-directional undercuts, thin ribs, high-gloss surfaces like phone cases or car interiors) and tight tolerances.
